Frequently Asked Questions

Have you ever considered running a marathon or half marathon, or competing in a triathlon or ironman? Do you have a competitive spirit, and an enthusiasm for helping others? Join Team Sharsheret for the experience of a lifetime!

Q: What is Team Sharsheret?

A: Team Sharsheret is an athletic program supporting Sharsheret’s 12 national breast cancer and ovarian cancer programs, to raise awareness and funds that benefit thousands of Jewish women and families. Team athletes train and participate in athletic races including marathons, half marathons, triathlons and ironman challenges.

Q: I have never participated in a competitive race before; Can I still join Team Sharsheret?

A: Of course! Sharsheret’s training program is designed for all fitness levels, from beginner to expert. The professional coaching and training we provide will guide you and motivate you to make it to the finish line.

Q: What training will Team Sharsheret provide for me?

A: Sharsheret provides training for athletes of all levels, from beginner to expert. An experienced trainer will work with you to design a personal training program, answer your questions, and provide weekly training tips.

Q: How long do I need to commit to training?

A: It is recommended that you begin training 3-4 months prior to your race. (More or less, depending on your level of experience.)

Q: I am not an experienced fundraiser. Can you help me reach my commitment?

A: We help you every step of the way. We will work with you to set up your personal online fundraising page, draft sample e-mails and letters for you to send to family and friends, create shout-outs for Facebook and Twitter, and help you coordinate other fundraising initiatives. A Sharsheret Team liaison is available to assist with your fundraising efforts to help you reach your goal throughout your training.

Q: How are my efforts helping Sharsheret?

A: The funds you raise directly support Sharsheret’s programs benefiting Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer at every stage—before, during, and after diagnosis. Your outreach to friends and family help us spread the word about our culturally relevant programs.
