Sharsheret is an important cause for our family as long as I can remember. My mother, Gila Leiter, has been a member of Sharsheret's medical advisory board since it began, and we have run the Race for the Cure together for Sharsheret in NYC since I was in third grade. My paternal grandmother, beloved cousin, and all of my great aunts had breast cancer, and it took great tolls on their lives. It runs in my family, and to know that there is an organization ready and waiting to provide support if anyone in my family gets sick is really important to me. I want to contribute to this cause in every way I can, and running my first marathon with Team Sharsheret, sponsored by my friends and family, will hopefully be a great start.
I'm a senior in high school, and I've done multiple trail runs, road races, and 2 Olympic length triathlons, but this will be my first half-marathon. I'm committed to training hard for this race, and I'm really excited, especially because I will be doing it for such an amazing cause. Not only being able to run, which I love, but also being able to raise funds and proudly wear the t-shirt of a cause I support with all my heart as I run, is going to be an incredibly rewarding experience.
Please donate to help me raise funds to support Sharsheret!
