I know that cancer kills. I also know that both my mother and grandmother beat the odds and survived ovarian cancer. Sharsheret did not exist in 1960 when my grandmother battled cancer, but my mother was fortunate enough to have its support during every step of her treatment. (Check out my mother’s posting on Sharsheret’s Blog http://www.sharsheret.org/blog/661/know-your-family-history)
Racing in support of Team Sharsheret allows me to combine my love for running together with my deep gratitude to Sharsheret for being by my mother's side while I was living 6,000 miles away, in Jerusalem. I've been running regularly for about 10 years now. I have run numerous 10km races - in both Jerusalem and Tel Aviv -- but this is my first Half Marathon. There is something very special about racing at home in Jerusalem -- the familiar roads, the friendly faces and the amazing history. I am excited to have my husband Joel run by my side as our amazing children, Idan, Yoav, Yael and Nealy, and my parents who made aliyah this summer cheer us on to the finish line.
