I am running the NYC Half-Marathon in memory of my grandmother who survived breast cancer 25 years ago. At the time, she had little support and the subject of breast cancer was so taboo that she hardly spoke about it with anyone.  I feel badly that she did not have a support system where she could have share her fears and concerns.  I can only imagine how much comfort she would have received if she had an organization like Sharsheret, and a place to call.

I have never run a mile before making the decision to join Team Sharsheret, let alone run a half-marathon. I thought that I would run in honor of all the women facing breast cancer. I believe that among these women, the power of friendship and emotional support often provides both medical and emotional benefits.  Please support me in my efforts to spread the word, as I train to cross the finish line.
