Sharsheret, in partnership with Temple Judea in Coral Gables, will present a seminar to educate the local community about the risk of breast and ovarian cancer in Jewish women. The event, sponsored by The Wendy Lester Breast Cancer Educational Fund, in conjunction with several other community organizations, will be moderated by Emmy award winning television reporter Laurie Stein and will feature guest speaker Talia Donenberg, MS, CGC.

Sharsheret will partner with Bright Pink, The Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, and The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition to present, Ovarian Health 101, a free national teleconference about ovarian cancer risk, symptoms, prevention, and how to be proactive with your ovarian health. Panelists include Sharsheret Clinical Supervisor Shera Dubitsky, MEd, MA, Northwestern University Gynecologic Oncologist Diljeet K.

Sharsheret will join thousands of women and men gathering in New York City's Central Park to participate in Susan G. Komen for the Cure's Race for the Cure, a monumental breast cancer fundraising and awareness event. Team Sharsheret will meet at 8:30 a.m. on Race Day on the northeast corner of 74th Street and Central Park West for a Team Sharsheret photo. Team Sharsheret’s triathletes will be competing in the Nautica/NYC Triathlon, on Sunday, July 18, 2010. Support our five triathletes: Linda Gerstel (New York City), Cheryl Lasher (Englewood, NJ), Gila Leiter (Teaneck, NJ), Joseph Lerner (Englewood, NJ), and Chani Teigman (Englewood, NJ). Cheer them on as they swim 1500m in the Hudson River, bike 40k along Manhattan’s West Side Highway, and run 10k through Central Park to the finish line.

Free National Teleconference & Webinar

Sharsheret will present a free national teleconference, “The Impact of the Holocaust on Breast Cancer in Jewish Families Today,” Tuesday, July 14, 2010, 8:00 p.m. (EST).
