About Breast Cancer Genetics

How is Sharsheret’s Link Program different from a support group?
Sharsheret’s Link Program connects young women from across the country in one-to-one telephone conversations. We recognize that young women often find it difficult to commit to face-to-face support groups because they are simply too busy juggling careers, family, social appointments, and medical care. Through the Link Program, young women can speak at mutually convenient times in the privacy of their own homes.

How does Sharsheret arrange matches between women facing breast cancer and volunteer Links?
Sharsheret Link Program Coordinators make every effort to arrange a beneficial match between Callers and Links. Sharsheret maintains a confidential database that includes the background and concerns of the women who have called Sharsheret seeking peer support, as well as those providing the support. Link Program Coordinators select a suitable Link based upon a Caller's unique concerns.

Are there any costs associated with serving as a Sharsheret Link?
All Sharsheret programs, including the Link Program, are free of charge. Because the link program is a national telephone-based program, Sharsheret offers calling cards to all women who will need to make phone calls outside of their home states.
