Sharsheret To Present Free National Teleconference Breast Cancer And The Next Generation: Caring For Our Children

Teaneck, New Jersey (October 7, 2009) – Sharsheret, a national not-for-profit
organization supporting young Jewish women facing breast cancer, will present a free national teleconference, “Breast Cancer and the Next Generation: Caring For Our Children,” Wednesday, November 4, 2009, 8:00 – 9:30 p.m. (EST). An audio taping and written transcript of the teleconference will be posted online after the event www.sharsheret.org.

“For some women, breast cancer can be seen as “mom’s disease” that deeply infiltratesthe lives of her children. When a parent is undergoing treatment, the family must cope with it on a daily basis. Even years down the road, post-treatment, questions continue to loom for many parents who are concerned about their children’s emotional and physical well being,” said Clinical Supervisor Shera Dubitsky. “Sharsheret’s Breast Cancer and the Next Generation teleconference intends to focus on these pressing thoughts, offering clarity as one faces these difficult concerns.”

Panelists include Shera Dubitsky, MEd, MA (Clinical Supervisor, Sharsheret), Niecee
Schonberger, MS, CGC (Genetics Program Coordinator, Sharsheret), and Toni Cabat,
DSW, LCSW (Director of Family Services and Organizational Development, Chai Lifeline). Panelists will present topics including, talking to young children about breast cancer, addressing the critical needs of teenagers and educating young adult children about their risk of developing breast cancer. There will also be an opportunity to pose questions during a question and answer session. All participants will remain anonymous.

To register for the teleconference and for dial-in instructions, please call (866) 474-2774 or email [email protected]. This teleconference was made possible with generous support from Greater New York City Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Julius and Emmy Hamburger Memorial Fund.
