SUMMARY:Demystifying Clinical Trials: What You Need to Know
DESCRIPTION:Curious about clinical trials? Learn how they move from an idea to research to trials\, how to talk with your doctor about getting involved\, and what to expect if you join one. We’ll separate myths from facts\, explain your rights as a participant\, and help you feel confident discussing trials with your care team. With Dr. Richard Finn\, Professor of Medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in the Department of Medicine\, Division of Hematology/Oncology. \nBonus for our Embrace Community: We invite members of our Embrace community\, those facing metastatic breast or advanced ovarian cancer\, to stay on at the end of the webinar for an intimate breakout session with our speaker and Bonnie Beckoff\, Director of Sharsheret Support Services. \n1. \nQuestions? Contact 1 \nPresented with support from: \n       \n  \n \n\n\n\nDr Richard Finn is a professor of Medicine at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA in the Department of Medicine\, Division of Hematology/Oncology. He was an undergraduate at UCLA where he was involved with early laboratory studies investigating the HER2 oncogene and the development of monoclonal antibodies to this target in breast cancer with Dr. Dennis Slamon. He participated in the pre-clinical studies that defined the clinical candidate that eventually humanized and became the FDA approved agent trastuzumab (Herceptin). He went on to medical school at USC then returned to UCLA for his clinical training in Internal Medicine and then Hematology/ Oncology. \nHe currently splits his time between patient care and directing the Translational Research Laboratory in the Division of Hematology/Oncology. His research interests are focused in the development of targeted therapeutics for solid tumors across histologies to support the larger efforts of the department. His personal interests lie in the development of these targeted agents in Hepato-biliary and breast cancers. He has two-half days dedicated to patient care\, one of which is as a leader in the multi-disciplinary hepato-biliary cancer program at UCLA where he is involved with clinical studies aimed at bringing novel therapeutics into the treatment of patients with these malignancies.

SUMMARY:Risk of Recurrence: Coping with Fear\, Anxiety\, and the Emotional Weight of Survivorship
DESCRIPTION:The fear of recurrence is one of the most emotionally challenging aspects of cancer survivorship. That fear is often amplified around recurrence testing and scans. Recurrence risk tests like Prosigna\, TrueMRD\, Oncotype DX\, MammaPrint\, PreciseBreast\, Foundation Medicine One MRD\, and Signatera help our healthcare team gain vital understanding of each person’s risk over time.  \n But waiting for the results can be distressing and even after results arrive\, the fear of recurrence often lingers\, shaping how we think\, feel\, and move through life after a diagnosis. \nIn Part 2 of our webinar series on risk of recurrence\, Arash Asher\, MD\, will explore the psychosocial impact of living with recurrence risk: the anxiety of waiting\, the weight of uncertainty\, and strategies that can help you cope\, find support\, and reclaim a sense of control. \nBonus for our Embrace Community: We invite members of our Embrace community\, those facing metastatic breast cancer or advanced ovarian cancer\, to stay on at the end of the webinar for an intimate breakout session with our expert and Bonnie Beckoff\, Director of Sharsheret Support Services. \n\nRegister here.\n\n\n\n\n\nQuestions? Contact Melanie Fisher at mfisher@sharsheret.org. \n  \nWith support from: \nCooperative Agreement 24-0061 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention \nSponsors: \n        \n  \nThe Embrace Breakout Session is sponsored by: \n and
