DESCRIPTION:Join our Sharsheret Supports Partner\, JCC/Nishmah in St. Louis. Their Sharsheret Supports Group meets to offer support to women in the St. Louis Jewish community who have been diagnosed with breast or ovarian cancer and are anywhere along their treatment path – before\, during\, or post treatment. These sessions are facilitated by a licensed social worker and meets from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at the Jewish Community Center in Creve Coeur. Newcomers are always welcome and the program is open to the community. Having a BRCA gene mutation significantly increases one’s risk of developing breast\, ovarian\, prostate and other cancers. Panelists will discuss genetic counseling\, the rationale for testing for BRCA gene mutations\, managing cancer risk and resources available for those who carry BRCA gene mutations.
