A Meaningful Summer Internship
This summer I had the opportunity to intern for the donations and development teams at Sharsheret. This internship proved to be quite rewarding and eye opening, as I was able to gain a deeper understanding of what Sharsheret does on the daily to help out their callers. I was able to get hands-on experiences, which included activities ranging from reaching out to donors to packing pillows for women who had just undergone mastectomies.
Throughout my time at Sharsheret, one of the best experiences that I was privileged to have was being able to witness their events come together. I arrived at Sharsheret about a month and a half before their two Tristate summer benefits, and I got to watch as the events were built up from just an idea to two inspiring and incredible evenings. At the beginning, the preparation for the event included things like stuffing envelopes and cross-checking lists, but the closer we got to the event, the more intense the workplace became. I was able to endure new experiences, which included reaching out to previous donors and working on the design of even the smallest details of the night. It was incredibly rewarding to actually attend the event and witness all of the hard work really come together. This was especially interesting for me, as I hope to pursue a career in event coordination, specifically in the nonprofit world, so interning at Sharsheret was a perfect organization for me to gain experiences that would help me in the future.
Working at Sharsheret was an opportunity that I do not take for granted. It was truly a blessing to spend my summer interning at an organization that helps so many people, and I hope to continue working with Sharsheret and supporting them throughout the year.
