Risk of Recurrence: Coping with Fear, Anxiety, and the Emotional Weight of Survivorship
The fear of recurrence is one of the most emotionally challenging aspects of cancer survivorship. That fear is often amplified around recurrence testing and scans. Recurrence risk tests like Prosigna, TrueMRD, Oncotype DX, MammaPrint, PreciseBreast, Foundation Medicine One MRD, and Signatera help our healthcare team gain vital understanding of each person’s risk over time.
But waiting for the results can be distressing and even after results arrive, the fear of recurrence often lingers, shaping how we think, feel, and move through life after a diagnosis.
In Part 2 of our webinar series on risk of recurrence, Arash Asher, MD, will explore the psychosocial impact of living with recurrence risk: the anxiety of waiting, the weight of uncertainty, and strategies that can help you cope, find support, and reclaim a sense of control.
