Shai and Florie Gasner

Shai and Florie Gasner have built a life rooted in family, resilience, and a deep commitment to community. Shai, born and raised in Monsey, NY, was profoundly influenced by his parents, Meyer and Miriam Gasner. Meyer was a visionary community builder, founder, and supporter, while Miriam dedicated decades of service to the Yeshiva sisterhood. Florie grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, as the daughter of Holocaust survivors, Minde and Jack Diamond. Her father was a true hero who courageously saved many Jewish lives during the Holocaust, instilling in Florie a strong sense of compassion, strength, and responsibility to others.

From 1980 until 2016, Shai and Florie made their home in Monsey, NY, where they raised their children Avi, Tamar, Daniella, and Yonina with the same values of kindness and community that were passed down to them. In 2016, they relocated to Woodmere, NY to be closer to their two eldest children.

The Gasners’ connection to Sharsheret is deeply personal and meaningful. They were first introduced to the organization through its founder, Rochelle Shoretz Z”L, when they hosted a fundraiser at their home in Monsey. For Shai, his connection to the cause is particularly unique. His family’s experience with breast cancer began decades ago, when his father underwent a mastectomy in the late 1970s—an unusual and deeply impactful experience for a man at that time. In recent years, Sharsheret has played an even more critical role in the Gasners’ lives, providing invaluable guidance and support to their daughter Tamar before and after her prophylactic double mastectomy. The gratitude they feel for the organization’s compassionate assistance and guidance is immeasurable.

Beyond her professional work, Erica is deeply engaged in her community. She volunteers at her synagogue, serves on the Sharsheret Advisory Board, and collaborates with local organizations. She spearheaded the first Five Towns Sharsheret Mahjongg Fundraiser, a groundbreaking event that has become a model for similar fundraisers nationwide.
