Dr. Oren Lerman

Dr. Lerman is a board-certified plastic surgeon renowned for his expertise in breast reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. After completing his plastic surgery training at NYU Medical Center and the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lerman completed advanced fellowship training in microvascular breast reconstruction. He is the past president of the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons and an active member of leading national surgical organizations.

As Associate Chair of Plastic Surgery and Director of the Aesthetic and Reconstructive Breast Fellowship Program at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan, Dr. Lerman is dedicated to advancing the field and training the next generation of surgeons. He has authored more than 40 original publications and is also a sought-after lecturer at national and international conferences.

His involvement with Sharsheret spans more than 15 years and is most recently reflected in the annual wellness and fundraising event he sponsors at the Peloton Studios in Manhattan, bringing together breast cancer survivors, previvors, friends, family and clinical providers to raise awareness and celebrate Sharsheret’s mission of supporting the cancer community returning to a normal, fun and healthy life.

Elisa Wietschner

Inspired by the extraordinary women of Sharsheret and her commitment to the community, Elisa has dedicated her time and energy to supporting Sharsheret and its life-enhancing and lifesaving programs. Her involvement began in Sharsheret’s early days, when she volunteered in a variety of roles—from helping in the office each week to running in Central Park with Team Sharsheret. Elisa later became a member of Sharsheret’s Jewel Circle. What began as volunteer work has grown into a lasting commitment and an important part of both her life and her family’s life. Being a high school classmate and friend of Lisa Altman A”H, makes receiving the Lisa Altman Volunteer Tribute Award especially meaningful to Elisa. Elisa lives in Teaneck with her husband, Chaim, and is a proud mother and a grandmother.

Aliza Bochner

Aliza lives in New Jersey with her husband, Daniel, and two young daughters, Sara and Lily. She is an occupational therapist, providing special education services to high school students with learning and social challenges. She is an active member of her community and in her free time can be found reading or camping with her family.

At age 30, Aliza was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. She completed five months of chemotherapy followed by a double mastectomy. While navigating treatment, she found strength and community through Sharsheret’s support services. Grateful for the help she received, she now gives back as a peer supporter and ambassador, and helped start Sharsheret’s new virtual support groups. She is honored to support others facing a similar journey.

Dr. Seth Sokol

Dr. Seth Sokol is an interventional cardiologist and a devoted supporter of Sharsheret. Together with his wife, Jennifer, he has been part of the organization for over ten years. His longstanding commitment to both his profession and the Jewish community reflects a deep belief in caring for and supporting others. He especially enjoys the day when the counters in his kitchen are covered with pies in support of Sharshert’s Pies for Prevention Thanksgiving bake sale.

Seth is an active member of the Young Israel of New Rochelle, where he and his family dedicate their time and energy in many different areas. Together with Jenny, they have four children, two children-in-law and enjoy spending time with their grandchildren. Seth is honored and humbled to be leading us in the siyum and looks forward to continuing to support Sharsheret, an organization that means so much to him and his family.

Julia Makowsky

Julia Makowsky is a passionate advocate, therapist, and community voice dedicated to supporting women and families through life’s most complex moments. Her work is rooted in compassion, strength, and an unwavering commitment to honesty—especially within the Jewish community.

Julia’s connection to Sharsheret became deeply personal following her own BRCA positive diagnosis and subsequent prophylactic treatment. Through this experience, she found strength in community and purpose in advocacy. Choosing transparency over silence, Julia began sharing her journey publicly to bring awareness, education, and light to the realities of genetic risk, prevention, and women’s health. By opening this conversation, Julia has empowered countless women to seek information, ask questions, and feel less alone. Her willingness to turn a personal challenge into a source of strength for others reflects the very heart of Sharsheret’s mission.

Balancing professional impact with family, faith, and service, Julia continues to lead with courage and authenticity. She is deeply honored to stand with Sharsheret in raising awareness, fostering resilience, and offering hope to women and families everywhere alongside her husband and four children.

Nikki Fuchs Mehl

When Sharsheret was only a dream, Nikki Fuchs Mehl was already there. What began as an act of friendship, quickly grew into devoted service. She accompanied a close friend to the very first Sharsheret meeting at the home of founder Rochelle Shoretz A”H, and from that moment forward became an integral part of the organization. A founding board member, she co-chaired the inaugural Benefit alongside Lisa Goldenberg Altman, the namesake of the award she now so fittingly receives. Over the past 25 years, her commitment has remained steadfast; recruiting volunteers, meeting with donors, packing Busy Boxes, attending retreats, and sharing her professional expertise through support programs.

An Artist and owner of PAINT WITH ME!, she holds a master’s degree in Creative Arts Therapy. Her virtual workshops, with the Sharsheret links and callers, have become cherished gatherings, offering those affected by breast and ovarian cancer space to connect, reflect, and find moments of healing and joy through creative expression. She has also strengthened Sharsheret staff connections through thoughtful team-building initiatives. As art director at Stella K. Abraham (SKA) High School for Girls, she inspires the ‘inner artist’ in students and faculty alike. A devoted wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and mother-in-law, Nikki carries forward the values of community service she learned from her parents.

Charlene Aminoff

Charlene Aminoff is a dynamic international speaker who captivates audiences around the world with her powerful storytelling, humor, and deeply moving message about faith, resilience, and purpose. She first gained global attention through the miraculous story of her daughter Gali’s survival from a near-fatal drowning—an experience that transformed her life and inspired her to dedicate herself to strengthening people’s connection to spirituality, gratitude, and the power of prayer. A breast cancer survivor, Charlene draws on her personal journey with strength and faith to inspire audiences worldwide, and has built a large and devoted social media following through her uplifting messages.

A proud mother of five, Charlene is the CEO and Founder of Gali’s Couture Wigs, a luxury wig brand serving women around the world. She is also a modest-fashion designer, creator of Israeli cosmetics, writer, and mentor to teenagers seeking meaning, confidence, and direction in today’s complex world.

Charlene is the founder of the Nishmat Movement, a global initiative that has inspired more than 70,000 people worldwide to incorporate a daily prayer of gratitude into their lives. Her work has helped spark a renewed interest in this ancient prayer and inspired the publication of a dedicated Nishmat book by ArtScroll.
