Sara Rudoff Olshin’s indomitable spirit and dedication left an indelible mark on Sharsheret and the lives of countless individuals she supported. During Sharsheret’s formative years, she served as the public relations liaison, breaking barriers by bringing attention to the unique challenges faced by young Jewish women with breast cancer, at a time when the topic was rarely discussed in the Jewish media.
Sara’s commitment to Sharsheret extended far beyond its inception. She remained a steadfast volunteer, offering peer support, sharing her story on college campuses, engaging with corporate partners, and playing a crucial role in evaluating Sharsheret’s cancer support programs to ensure the utmost quality. Her empathetic nature and advocacy work provided hope and strength to many.
In addition to her volunteer work, Sara was a respected art and personal property appraiser, known for her expertise and passion in the field. She lived in Teaneck, NJ, with her husband, Ira, and their two children, Rachel and Meir, before her passing in 2023 from metastatic breast cancer.
Sara had a love of art and a strong belief in group support and the importance of bonding through shared creative experiences. The Sara Rudoff Olshin Creative Art Experience, an annual virtual workshop open to women at all stages of their cancer journey, will alleviate stress and emotional triggers through art therapy, providing an emotional and therapeutic outlet. An experienced art therapist will guide participants, integrating spirituality with healing through the arts. The workshop will offer a supportive community, fostering creative expression and personal connections among participants, thereby lessening the burdens of cancer and survivorship.
