Team Sharsheret At The NYC ACS Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

Teaneck, New Jersey (October 5, 2016) – שרשרת, a national not-for-profit organization supporting women and families, of all Jewish backgrounds, facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer, is proud to participate in the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, October 16, 2016. Last year, more than 400 women, men, and children joined Team Sharsheret in Central Park for the family-friendly walk.

This year, for the first time, we will start the race with family-friendly Zumba led by Lauren Fuchs, one of Sharsheret’s 2016 summer interns. T-shirt pick-up and Zumba will begin at 7:30 am, followed by a team picture at 8 am. “Sharsheret continues to grow because of the dedication and commitment of so many strong supporters, both locally and nationally,” said Team Captain Ellen Kleinhaus. “This year, we are especially grateful to our Team Benefactor, Bernstein Liebhard LLP and the many other pharmaceutical, corporate and family sponsors who support us year after year. We deeply appreciate all the Team members – women, men, young professionals, college and high school students – and Team sponsors who come out in full force to walk with Team Sharsheret and enable us to provide vital support to all Jewish women and families facing breast cancer and ovarian cancer.”

שרשרת היא הארגון הארצי היחיד התומך בנשים יהודיות ובמשפחותיהן, מכל הרקעים, המתמודדות עם סרטן השד והשחלות - אלו שאובחנו ואל אלו הנמצאות בסיכון גבוה. שרשרת מוסמכת על ידי הלשכה לעסקים טובים יותר וזכה לדירוג של 4 כוכבים מ- נווט צדקה for sound fiscal management and commitment to accountability and transparency.

To date, we serve more than 55,000 women, families, health care professionals, community leaders, and students from all 50 states. All Sharsheret programs serve all women and men.

כחבר ב- הוועדה המייעצת הפדרלית לסרטן השד בקרב נשים צעירות, שרשרת מעצבת מסרים ותוכניות ברמה הלאומית. מתוך הכרה בשרשרת כמודל לתמיכה רלוונטית תרבותית בסרטן השד, המרכזים הפדרליים לבקרת מחלות ומניעתן העניקו לארגון שני מענקים רב-שנתיים לפיתוח תוכניות תמיכה. בנוסף, שרשרת משתתפת במחקרים פסיכו-סוציאליים והערכות בשיתוף פעולה עם סוכנויות פדרליות ומרכזי סרטן גדולים, כולל מרכז הסרטן ג'ורג'טאון לומברדי.
